Rest in peace Mason💙💰

I wasn’t as close to Mason as many others were, but I had the privilege of sharing the track with him and witnessing firsthand what an incredible teammate he was. He brought joy and laughter to every practice, and beyond all the trolling, he had a way of pushing everyone around him to be better. I’m sure his family, friends, and teammates from both football and track can all attest to his infectious energy and genuine character.

At times like these, we’re reminded of life’s fragility. The sad reality is that death can come at any moment without warning. Don’t wait for something tragic to happen to truly cherish the moments you have and tell the people you love just how much they mean to you.

I know this is bigger than sports, but if you’re an athlete searching for a reason to push yourself and leave an impact, there’s no better person to do it for than Mason. He was the best supporter and hype man any underclassman—like I was—could ask for, so honor him by giving your all because you know he’d want to see you win. We couldn’t win it all last year, but best believe that every stride I take this season will be in your honor.

My prayers go out to Mason’s family, his loved ones, and everyone whose life he touched. May we carry his spirit forward in all that we do.
